Overnight Camping & Residential Community Standards

The ultimate vision of the Ozarks Church of Nature is the cultivation of a deeply connected, self-sufficient, and eco-conscious residential community. However, living in alignment with nature requires a high level of personal maturity, practical skill, and absolute self-reliance. We are not a public campground, a commune, or a homeless shelter. We are also not landlords, employers, or bosses. We do not provide jobs, we do not dictate your daily tasks, and we do not manage your life. Radical self-responsibility is the absolute key to being on this land.

To protect our peace and our ecological mission, all overnight campers (whether staying for 1 night or exploring long-term community integration) must strictly meet the following criteria:

Absolute “Zero-Waste” Policy (Pack It In, Pack It Out)

No Trash Service Available: There is no municipal trash pickup on this private property. Every piece of garbage left behind creates an immediate financial hardship, wasting our personal time, money, and fuel to haul it to the waste facility.
The Rule: You must pack out 100% of your own garbage, including plastic bottles, cans, fast-food bags, plastic food packaging and pet waste.
Strict Commercial Tobacco/Cigarette Policy: We are a sanctuary of health and earth healing. Commercial cigarettes are highly toxic, non-biodegradable plastic pollutants that poison our organic soil. While we celebrate natural, healthful smoking herbs (such as mullein, passionflower, mugwort, and wormwood), commercial cigarette butts are absolutely prohibited from being left on the ground, in communal areas, in sanctuary bins or residential trash cans, astrays, etc. If you smoke commercial tobacco, you must collect, contain, and pack out 100% of your own butts.
The Penalty: Leaving even a single piece of plastic, disposable packaging, or a commercial cigarette butt on this property is a violation of our sacred space. Guests who leave trash behind will have their booking privileges permanently revoked, and a mandatory $150 hazardous clean-up and hauling fee will be billed to your account or card on file immediately.

Absolute Infrastructure Self-Containment

Off-Grid Independence: The sanctuary does not provide utility hookups. All overnight and long-term setups must be completely self-contained. You must provide your own independent power source (solar, propane, generator, power company poles, burying wires, etc.).
Grid Separation: Access to the main sanctuary well water and septic system is strictly prohibited for residential setups. If you wish to expand infrastructure for a long-term stay, you must fully fund and install your own independent systems with explicit written approval from management.

Strict Septic & Soil Purity Rules (The Chemical Ban)

Zero-Toxin Humanure: We care deeply about treating environmental destruction and rebuilding pristine, living soil. Because our waste-management systems feed directly into the center of our sacred gardens, we maintain a zero-tolerance policy for chemical contamination.
The Rule: Anyone currently utilizing synthetic pharmaceuticals, maintenance medications, regular chemical pills, or illicit drugs may not utilize our eco-septic or humanure systems under any circumstances. If your body requires chemical medications, you must provide your own entirely self-contained, haul-away waste system. We will not allow chemical waste to pollute the soil we are working to heal.

Total Personal Self-Sufficiency

We Are Not a Service Provider: The sanctuary does not provide meals, cooking services, or personal care. Management is entirely focused on land stewardship and spiritual leadership. We are not here to mother, feed, or cater to guests.
Practical Life Skills Required: To stay on this land, you must be a fully functional, independent adult capable of taking care of yourself in all aspects. You must know how to prepare your own food, manage your own schedule, and fulfill your own physical and dietary needs without expecting assistance from the sanctuary hosts.
