ABOUT THE FOUNDER
The Ozarks Church of Nature and Magical Food Forest is the realization of a lifelong dream that took root in Christie Aphrodite’s heart when she was just a child. Even as a young girl, she possessed a fierce, independent spirit and an innate connection to the earth that didn’t always fit into standard societal boxes. In fact, throughout her school years and beyond, friends and family lovingly joked and called her the “Anti-Christ-ie” – a play on her name that perfectly captured her rebellious, non-conformist nature and her refusal to bow to rigid dogmatic systems.
Christie’s path to building this sanctuary was anything but a straight line; it was a journey forged in grit, entrepreneurial fire, and profound personal resilience. A natural creator with an unstoppable work ethic, Christie launched her very first bakery and café at just 23 years old while navigating the immense world of single motherhood. Her culinary passion later led her to work as a sous chef, mastering the art of nourishment from the ground up, while her dynamic voice and sharp mind carved out a successful, multi-year career in the fast-paced world of alternative radio.Though her dream of building a sacred space for nature connection was always burning in the background, life introduced a massive, 35-year chapter of severe physical disability that threatened to permanently derail her vision. Yet, it was through this exact crucible of suffering that Christie discovered her ultimate truth: Nature is infinitely smarter than man.
When human systems, modern medicine, and synthetic approaches fell short, Christie turned directly to the soil, the plants, and the natural rhythms of the earth to reclaim her life and vitality. While many label her an herbalist and come asking, “What pill or plant can I take for this?” Christie’s philosophy goes infinitely deeper. She isn’t a prescription writer or a product salesperson. She teaches that true healing is rarely about what you can add or take, it is more often about what you can take away to stop the root cause of pain, suffering, and dis-ease. Her mission is to act as a catalyst, helping individuals uncover the absolute root of their imbalances so they can become entirely self-sufficient, requiring neither her nor another doctor ever again.
This intensive healing journey delayed her childhood dream, but it also perfected it. She didn’t just study agriculture and earth stewardship from textbooks – she lived it as her own cure. Today, Christie is no longer a pushover to societal expectations or the circumstances of her past. She stands firmly on her mountain as a sovereign land healer, spiritual guide, and the fiercely protective guardian and builder of the Ozarks Church of Nature. She built this sanctuary so that others would have a safe, unfragmented space to strip away what divides them, master the art of self-reliance, and experience the exact same life-saving, root-level power of nature that brought her home to herself.
